Wolcott, NY

I am in a nice campground which was quiet until yesterday afternoon when all the weekend folks arrived. There seem to be distinct groups of people who are camping together and then there are the 'seasonals' but all seem friendly.

Today I think I will take photos of all the animals (mostly dogs) that are here since there is quite a variety.

Pennsylvania to New York state

Another week has elapsed and I have spent time in Pennsylvania and now in New York.
creek in PA

In Pennsylvania I stayed in a campground I expected to be really nice since it is part of the Morgan Resort group but I was disappointed. They are geared towards the 'seasonal' campers and overnight/weekend camping has some things missing (like really nice bathrooms/showers) to make the short stay enjoyable. They do have lots of weekend activities and terrific pools (outdoor and indoor) but being there in the rain and during the week (everyone went home) was not so great for me. I did get to play with my camera and learned how to do more 'close up' shots.

Now in a campground that I stayed at (two years ago) while sick after my job at the kid's camp, I have been able to see how big this place is and with the new owners it is headed to even greater heights.

Heading north

West Virginia

Sitting in the Canaan Valley State Park campground in West Virginia where I have no TV or internet access. My cell phone (and consequently the MiFi) has a spotty signal and I have been able to get the temperature and send an email. I am enjoying the beauty of the forest and meadow here and watching the critters (chipmunk, birds, etc.) with Petey. It was cold (39 at 8am which made it much colder during the night) but our heater works and we stayed cozy.   This photo should explain why I had no 'connections'.
Now I am back in 'civilization' in Pennsylvania and today is cloudy and drizzly so when I get some photos of this place with a creek running along side, I will post them. Today will be a television and computer and book day mostly indoors although this morning they did a pancake breakfast (Mother's Day) which was excellent and I got out for that treat.

welcome Dunedin and dentist

Manta at the pier

170,190,210
Am finally on the road from the Dunedin rally where we got to see both Dunedin and Tarpon Springs (and a dentist). It is such great fun 'hanging' out with the RT folks especially my 'solo' friends. We ate well (after the tooth was stabilized), shopped and talked alot while doing our wine.
I am now planning my next location while parked in Three Rivers State Park, (Sneads) at the top of Florida so I will head into Alabama next.

Getting Ready

Packing, re-packing, arranging and re-arranging is how I am spending my days getting ready for my summer. I already know I have too much clothing but have to be prepared for all seasons with the crazy, unpredictable weather around the nation. I will be staying on the eastern half of the country but it could be cold up north and I can only hope the rain/snow stuff ends before I get to where that is currently happening.
I have had the RT maintenance done and should not have too much more to do before loading food, electronics (can't go without computer) and my Petey. It is hard to sit and 'wait' before doing the rest of what has to be done so I have actually done some cleaning in my 'stix and brix' house.
So, that is the story until Petey and I am 'on the road' again.

April after T & C rally

Petey and I are home for a while until we head north after the next rally. We have been doing one week home, one week in the RT and now we will get ready for the summer. I have re-vamped the clothing items for the big trip after doing a test of capacity. I know I'll have more than I need but that is always the case especially when I have to be prepared for all weather.
We had a great rally in Kissimmee and it is always a treat to spend time with the Florida group.

Post Tomoka rally

I had a wonderful, fun time at the RT rally in Tomoka State Park and even got to see a lone dolphin out in the inlet. Despite falling from my bicycle on the first day I got on it, I did get to do a short ride with some of the solos who attended and saw more of the park than just where we parked.
had a cemented site

Happy Hour is always fun

We always have tons of food for dinners and this rally was no exception to this rule.

McClean Music Festival

We are home from the Festival and it was so much fun that we are going next year again!

We were seven 'solo' trekkers and since the two 'northerners' will be here next year, it is the same group who will attend.
Perhaps we can entice others to join us at this wonderful event where we had great music (Florida Folk music) , good food (vendors) and booths to buy trinkets (at reasonable prices).

"Itchy"

I am 'chomping' at the bit to get back on the road and with a short trip planned in a few days, I may survive a little longer. I am looking forward to the McClean Music Festival (March9-12) and then Tomoka State park (March 20). In April it will be our T & C rally in Kissimmee and then in May, after a rally in Dunedin, I will be heading to my work kamping jobs.
I am fortunate to have good folks to stay and watch my house while I do these longer trips so I do not have to be concerned about it.
   So, until next entry...travel safely.

Rally time

The MidWinter rally is over and done with and it just seems to have disappeared too fast.

The theme was 'birthdays' so in addition to the 'normal' rally stuff we had extra 'drawings' for birthday 'presents'. It was fun. We did the seminars and taught each other more stuff than can be imagined. There were several new people (new to Roadtrek) and we tried to teach them whatever we could in a short few days to help them get started in their journey.
We made new friends and enjoyed the 'old' ones. This is always a great rally.

End of January

After looking at some of the blogs that I follow, I realize that in winter when many of us are not 'on the road' as much as our summers, blogs are not kept up to date and I wonder where you all are and what you are doing even if it is not in the RV.
Here in Florida, the weather has been wonderful and for those up in the north, you haven't had it that bad this year (so far) either. I am hoping to see lots of folks at the Mid Winter (Roadtrek) rally which starts on Tuesday (in Orlando) and catch up with the latest information both technical and personal. I love seeing other 'treks' and learning stuff from their owners.
Petey and I will go to a County park for a couple of days before getting to the Central Florida Fairgrounds on Tuesday morning because we have been home 'too long' and are itchy to get going again. If I didn't have an usher committment today, we would have left already.
So, for those who 'follow' me, get writing!

New Year 2012

Since we have stayed home since our Thanksgiving trip, I have not written very much. I have been doing volunteer stuff at the zoo and the King Center (am an 'official' usher now) but not much of anything else except trying to plan for future trips.
With my committments for January, I will not be traveling until the 29th and then it will be to the Roadtrek Mid-Winter rally only 70 miles away.
Weather in Florida has been magnificent and we will have some 'winter' this week when the temps dip to freezing during the night. I will get to wear a coat and some sweaters and that is a good thing.
Hope you all have a safe, healthy and happy New Year!

Sunset Isles, Cedar key

morning sun
Site this year is between tree and cement pad (picnic table) and except for early morning, the shade keeps us cool and Petey stays happy. The water is a view from my windows on the right side and being in the middle of the campground was perfect for Thanksgiving food (served closest to us).
daily sunset
late sun

six solos
When everyone was here, the Roadtrek lineup was visible from this site too even with other rigs filling the rest of the sites.
We were all together until Saturday when five of the ladies headed home, but Jackie and I are staying until Tuesday. We have already made our reservations for next year with the hopes that the weather will be just as it is this year which is perfect!

Petey says....

Petey says it is time to get 'going' again and is happy that Thanksgiving will be in a camp with other folks eating turkey and having a lovely time. We'll have a better site this year 'in the middle' of the action and watching the critters will be easier than last year when only the rear windows were there to look out of since we were 'squeezed' in between 'walls' and needed our sunscreen for the front windows.
So we are putting things in our RT and hoping no rain gets in our face.

Mid November

The RT rally in Kissimmee was the best T & C I've attended (and I do that one twice a year). We not only got education in all things electronic, but had great social times.
some of the attendees
We had close to 50 people with 15 solos (3 guys) and it was fun to meet people from out of state as well as seeing the 'old' friends who are part of our Region 5 group.
I will be heading to Thanksgiving with a bunch of trekkers and the campground cooks the turkeys while we just have to bring a side dish and enjoy.
pretty comfy here

Packing

I am finally packing the RT to take a short journey. I already know I have too much clothing but if I have the room, I'm taking my choices. I am doing better with all the other 'stuff' but will always have more clothes and I am just accepting that as a 'fact of life' since I want options even if it is just for a few days. Whatever I do not wear for this rally, I can leave in there for Thanksgiving since I think the weather will be about the same highs and lows in temperatures and I always have 'wet' gear too.
My 'house sitters' will be caring for my home things as always so I do not have to be concerned. I will write and maybe post some photos after this short trip.

Past the middle of October

We have now 'waterproofed' the front of the house but I will not know if it really will keep water out until our next 'big' rain which probably won't happen for a while and I just do not want it to be when I am not at home. My house caretakers do a good job but I do not want 'removing water' to be a task to be added to the list.
The weather has finally become 'autumn' and it is gorgeous. Quite a delight to be outside wearing sweatshirt. I did two days of garage sale and in the shade, I was actually cold!
Petey loves the cooler weather and has been romping all over the house from one end to the other. He even slept on the bed with me some when the nights are under 65 degrees.
I am still doing Boo at the Zoo volunteering which is fun but exhausting to my feet and back. I am looking forward to my next rally in November and just need to put in clothing and groceries for us to get there.

home in rain, rain, rain....

Well, here we sit home in the rain and it hasn't stopped (short breaks) for two days. It is predicted to rain until about Tuesday and that does not make me happy since I already have about 1/2 inch of water in my downstairs room. It seems to 'seep' in at the bottom of baseboards even though when I had the room renovated we coated everything with stuff to prevent this kind of thing. I will be using a wet vac to get it up but it is frustrating to see it now (do not have the vac yet). I do not have anything down there that can get 'hurt' by a little water on the floor but it is not nice anyway.
I am not letting Petey on the deck since most of it is wet and when the wind blows from the east, I get 'mist' in my bedroom if the sliding door is open.
How I managed to get to the theater last night (my usher thing) without 'drowning' is a mystery. I took my shoes and socks in a bag and walked (wearing a longish raincoat with umbrella even in the wind) from vehicle to building barefoot! Bottom of pants did dry (about an hour for that) but mostly, it was OK. I am glad I live only 'around the corner' from the theater so I didn't have to be driving in the 'driving wind and rain' much and I even managed to get back into my driveway safely.
We are still in better shape than many who have much flooding going on in different parts of this city and others in Florida.
Next note, I hope, when the sun is shining again!

End of September

Well, it is just about the end of September and still way too hot in Florida! I did get into the RT this morning to do more re-arranging and taking things out and discovered the Turbo Cell charger that I've been looking for about a year now. Of course I do not have the correct adapter for my cell phone but I think I can get one without a problem. It is a neat gadget that uses a AA battery in order to charge your cell phone when you do not have AC or computer power. Seems like carrying it in my purse would be handy since the 'smart' phone needs charging more than the old ones.
This weekend I'll be celebrating another birthday and will have a Champagne Brunch and massage so it should be a lovely day and even the weatherman says it will be less humid and more comfortable.
Since getting home, Petey is usually not far from me and when I leave him for a few hours, I get 'yelled at' when I return.

Back in the 'big' house

It is very strange being back in my 'big' house again after living in my one room 'wheeled' apartment. Petey has decided he is happy here and loves lying on the tile where it is cool.
I have almost finished getting the RT back in shape and then I will only have to add clothing and groceries in order to leave again.
I am continuing to live with my new pennant's thoughts each day.
I look forward to hanging it outside the rig.
