Sun/rain...which?

The weather just can't make up its mind. One day sun/hot, and next it is rainy/cool. Today we have sun and cool but it is probably going to rain on us more.
I feel bad for our tent campers who have been here during some hard rain/wind situations. I discovered a 'leak' around my fantastic fan frame but it seems to be only when the wind blows very hard and perhaps I haven't had the vent cover down completely. I am considering one of the vent covers that would allow me to leave it open but protected from weather. In the meantime, I have tightened the frame and will be more alert to keeping the vent fully closed.
It was nice to sleep 'in' today with no work schedule and when I was invited to go for popovers, I did not hesitate. Had more lobster this past week
always good!

After Fourth of July

The weather has been up and down so I have spent more time indoors than I am happy about. Granted we have not had the storms or over 100 degree temperatures that others around the country have and still are enduring but for this part of the country (Bass Harbor, Maine) it has been more dreary and cool than sunny and warm. The campground has more RVs than last week when we were full with tents over the Holiday week. Our cabins have been pretty much filled too since tents are not great in the rain.
I have only had lobster once but that will change soon. They should have their softer shells now and be more abundant.
My work schedule has varied each week but basically I am doing the 24 hours required (usually more) and I do enjoy it. The days I work until 6 or 7P.M, I find myself really tired since I am just not used to working this old brain/body at a job but I sleep good!
Petey is staying healthy and seems to enjoy being in one place rather than driving around. I have not unhooked and driven anywhere in about 2.5 weeks so he is really happy.
My new GPS (Rand McNally 7720) arrived yesterday so my new toy is making me happy and I have put in addresses that I want to keep. It is fun to put in the campgrounds I return to just by finding them in the RV directory that is built into this unit.

I have walked to the lighthouse but with the weather being 'fickle', I haven't walked too many other places.

Missed turn

My friend Cricket and I headed to Bar Harbor but we missed the turn and found ourselves in Ellsworth. So, we went for lunch at a Thai restaurant I had never noticed before going to Walmart to shop.
The décor in this restaurant is pure Thai with heavy, wood furniture that has gorgeous sculptures on it. Some tables have carvings on the top and then are covered with glass. The food was good and not too expensive so we have put that on our 'return to' list.

walk to lighthouse

How many times do I say "be sure the camera is charged" and how often do I not even think about it....well, I decided to walk to the lighthouse today and, of course, the camera battery died as I got there. So here are only a few photos of some flowers on the way and one side of the lighthouse.

Bass Harbor Campground

I have our site marked so everyone knows we live here.

This was the completed (with no fireplace at this point) pavilion but then the remants of Andrea (the storm) came along and took down our roof! It will be repaired in a more sturdy manner so we can enjoy it as we did with an impromptu potluck for workers and seasonal campers that are here.

Once the weather straightens out, it is going to be another glorious summer here.

Finally, Bass Harbor

After a week of driving, I visited with Lorraine who's house has the most gorgeous lake views. We watched sunset (camera not with me) after having a wonderful dinner.
I have 'settled' into Bass Harbor campground and will start work tomorrow. It is still quiet here so I will have time to re-acquaint with the scheduling system (updated version).
Photos here are from the trip along the way.

Rallies done

Just a few pics of the rigs and attendees starting with mine.

It was a wonderful couple of weeks in Missouri with Roadtrek friends of old and meeting new folks making it better. The two rallies back to back were exhausting but fun and we never lacked for things to do. Often it was just being around each other and talking that occupied us and all of us learned new things too. Every model of Roadtrek and many different years were there including the brand new, anniversary edition (not in production yet) brought by the company for us to see.

COE parks

I am on the road again. On the way to Missouri, I stopped in Arab, AL to visit with my Roadtrek friends who gave me a 'private' campground to stay with electric/water and cable too! I was treated like a royal guest and am looking forward to seeing them at the rallies next week.
Along the way after that visit, I stayed in Tenn. for a night and then to Missouri where I am in the second of two COE parks.

Just the beginning of a few days here and I will take more photos of this beautiful site.

House stuff

Sooner than I wanted, my house ac unit needed replacing and after about 9 hours of work, it was finally installed and working well. The guys also found out why my service guys have been getting shocked and that should no longer happen (they will be happy).
Petey spent the day in the closet (did use the litter box and drink water) until those men were gone.

So there is not too much left to do before our RT adventure for the summer starts and we are more than ready to 'hit the road'.

Post T&C rally

Our April T & C rally was a great success again. This year we were blessed with the presence of the Geeks on Tour couple (the Gulds) so we got lots of information concerning our computers, smart phones and tablets.

And a surprise visit from the Griffins was wonderful. They joined in the Happy Hour and dinner festivities and then spent a day doing the Magic Kingdom while we continued to enjoy our Geeks.

2013 Region 3 RT Anniv. Rally

The anniversary rally was wonderful. We spent time with 'old' and new friends and learned so much from each other.

We celebrated Dave's years of service to our Region.

Mary got 'wrapped' during the 'first aid' demo

Solo table in U shape gave us more opportunity to communicate.

And we had great entertainment.

And Petey enjoyed his time too.

SOLO CUP

This is the 'red solo cup' -made of melamine. Obtained in Charleston, SC by Joan B. -

Will McClean Festival

The festival was wonderful and with seven solotrekkers even better for having fun.
We had our daily Happy Hours, ate both our own and the vendor food and listened to music from morning to night.
We are already planning next year and will spend a week at Hillsborough SP before heading to the Festival venue.
